We are pleased to invite you to participate in When I Return, a US Palestinian Community Network initiative aiming to highlight community and collective aspirations for the freedom and liberation of Palestine.
When I Return is an online viral participatory campaign featuring simple notes by Palestinians, Arabs and allies describing what they hope to do when they return to Palestine.
When I Return intends to unleash the Nakba’s daily resonance, as not only a vanishing point in a past to be commemorated, but a persistent moment binding us to our past, our present and to each other. In this project, we hope to take part in reviving the celebratory and revolutionary spirit that has always been a part of the Palestinian national struggle, working against all odds, bolstered by our collective will to always resist, always dream. In this year of revolutionary hope and change, now more than ever, we know, as we have always known, Palestine will be free.
This project asks you, for just a moment, to take liberation for granted, and to think of your first day after liberation. What will you do? Where will you go? What will you be dreaming of next?
The project cannot work without your participation. We are inviting a select group of Palestinian, Arab and ally scholars, community organizers, artists and activists, of all ages, to submit their own contributions for the launch.
In order to contribute to this project, please send us a statement in whatever medium you choose, video, audio, text, musical piece or artwork, in Arabic, English or Spanish, that completes or addresses either of two statements:
“When I return to Palestine, I will…”
or
“When Palestine is liberated, I will…”
It can, but need not be, somber; the joys of liberty and freedom can be as mundane, funny or as profound as you wish.

In order to be ready for the launch, please submit your contribution by May 10, 2011.
Campaign launch will be on May 14, 2011.
Your contribution will be featured on a website that will launch on May 14, 2011. A viral campaign will also begin on Twitter (#whenireturn), as well as Facebook. Submissions to both will be fed into the website.
Statements are currently being collected from Palestinians all over the world. A member of the initiative is currently working on video footage in refugee camps, and another is interviewing Nakba survivors in the United States.

El Grupo de Palestinos en los E.U.A. o US Palestinian Community Network, When I Return, O “Cuando Regrese” le invita a que participe en un importante proyecto que tiene como objetivo destacar las metas de la comunidad para la liberación de Palestina.
When I Return o Cuando Regrese es una campaña que se realiza a través del internet donde los cuentacuentos son palestinos, árabes y Aliados y donde sus historias describen la esperanza que tienen de regresar a Palestina.
When I Return quiere demostrar la resonancia diaria de Nakba’s, no solo para conmemorar el pasado, sino también para conectarnos al pasado y para comunicarnos el uno con el otro. Con este proyecto, queremos resucitar el sentimiento festivo y revolucionario, siempre parte de la lucha nacional palestina, trabajando contra las normas, apoyando la resistencia y el sueño de salir adelante.
En este año de esperanza y cambio revolucionario, estamos seguros más que nunca de que Palestina será libre.
El proyecto le pregunta, solo por un momento, el de valorar la libertad, y el pensar en el primer día después de la liberación. ¿Qué va hacer? ¿Cuál es el camino a seguir? ¿Cuáles son sus sueños después de la liberación?
El proyecto no funcionará sin su participación. Invitamos al grupo de palestinos, árabes y escolares aliados, organizadores de la Universidad, artistas, y activistas de todas las edades que participen con esta campaña.

Estamos recogiendo declaraciones de palestinos que viven alrededor del mundo. Uno de nuestros miembros está filmando diversos videos en los campamentos de refugiados y otro individuo está entrevistando sobrevivientes de Nakba en los Estado Unidos.

‘When I Return’
When I Return is a project of the US Palestinian Community Network
US Palestinian Community Network (USPCN) is a grassroots community network with over twenty democratically-elected chapters. The network affirms the right of Palestinians in the Shatat (exile) to participate fully in shaping our destiny. USPCN is anchored in the following points of unity:
Self-determination and equality for the Palestinian people;
The right of all Palestinian refugees to return to their original homes, lands, properties and villages (an inalienable right supported by international law and UN Resolution 194);
Ending Zionist occupation and colonization of Palestine.
USPCN is an arena and platform for Palestinian communities to come together, coordinate, refine strategies, link efforts, plan united actions, and inform one another and the community about their work for Palestine.
