USPCN salutes United Church of Christ’s vote to divest

Another important victory for Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) was won yesterday, at the United Church of Christ (UCC) General Synod convention in Cleveland, Ohio.   Seventy-six percent of UCC delegates voted for divestment from Israeli occupation, and also to boycott Israeli settlement products, to continue pressuring Congress to end U.S. unconditional military aid to Israel, and to study Kairos Palestine and its call in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

USPCN was there in Cleveland, with leading Detroit chapter member George Khoury working closely with the UCC Palestine Israel Network, Friends of Sabeel-North America (FOSNA), the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), and many other institutions.

We are proud to have been a part of another historic moment in the Palestine support movement in this country, having experienced the incredible Presbyterian victory last year as well.

Congratulations and gratitude again to the United Church of Christ, and especially the UCC Palestine Israel Network, for standing on the side of peace and justice.

Another step forward in the struggle for Liberation and Return!
