On Land Day, Demand IRS Investigate Jewish National Fund

This morning, on Palestinian Land Day, the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) submitted a regulatory challenge to the IRS requesting an investigation into the charitable status of the Jewish National Fund on grounds of discrimination and contravention of U.S. policy. The JNF enjoys tax-exempt status as a charitable organization in the United States even though the reality of its work- supporting Israel’s ongoing ethnic cleansing of Palestine- is anything but charitable.

Sign the petition to amplify calls to the IRS to revoke the JNF’s tax exempt status!

The JNF’s mandate is to promote racist and discriminatory policies such as forcibly displacing Palestinians from their lands to make way for Jewish-only housing developments, including inside Israel’s pre-1967 borders. The JNF’s support for settlement activity in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem also means its activities violate longstanding official U.S. policies against settlements, as well as international law.

The Stop the JNF Campaign is calling on Palestinian rights activists to take action March 30 (Land Day)-April 18 (Tax Day) to build pressure to push the IRS to respond to the NLG’s challenge. After signing the petition, consider taking the following actions!

* Share this graphic about the JNF on your social media networks.

* Arrange a screening of Enduring Roots: Over a Century of Resistance to the JNF. This film chronicles stories of al-Nakba survivors, interviews with their descendants about the case of refugee return, and current and growing resistance to the ongoing colonization of Palestine by JNF. You can find the film here and film packet here.

* Plan a protest at your local JNF office, pass out fliers and collect petition signatures at your post office, or schedule a delegation to your local IRS office to deliver petition signatures and share concerns about the JNF’s tax status. Please contact us at [email protected] if you are interested in planning any of these local action ideas.

* Read and share stories by Palestinians impacted by the JNF and testimonials by former donors to the JNF. You can also submit your own experiences to [email protected].

* Share this action on Facebook and Twitter.

* Make a tax-deductible donation to the USPCN (c/o WESPAC Foundation) to sfundraising buttonupport this campaign and our other work!

Please honor Land Day by doing your part to support Palestinians in their struggle against the continuing theft of their land.
