10:00 am – 12:30 pm – Discussion of Draft of Strategic Goals, Plans and Activities for 2012 and beyond

Note: 15 minute break will be taken

Discussion will be based on a draft developed by the USPCN Coordinating Committee on Friday, and based upon input from all USPCN chapters.

12:30 pm– 2:00 pm – Working Lunch

Open conversation addressing issues of concern to local Palestinian community and other chapters.

2:00 pm – 3:30 pm – Inauguration of series of USPCN COMMUNITY SKILL-BUILDING WORKSHOPS IN MOBILIZATION 

Based upon requests from Palestinian communities across the US, in 2012 USPCN will hold a series of workshops in chapters and cities with Palestinian communities across the country. The workshops will be led by renowned national and local grassroots organizers and experts in various aspects and skills necessary for movement-building.

Inaugural Workshop on Effective Communication/Conflict Management and Resolution

This workshop will provide critical tools for effective communication within your association and chapters. Participants will emerge with a stronger skill-set in resolving organizational conflicts. Teams will help develop a communication plan for USPCN as well as their local associations and chapters, and consider different scenarios of conflict and discuss how to address them.

Lead by Salah Asad: Salah is an elected member of the USPCN National Coordinating Committee, and past International Director of Toastmasters International. He is the recipient of the Distinguished Toastmasters (DTM) designation in 2004 and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in 2009. He is a graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond (LMR) and has received awards in ‘Excellence in Education and Training’ and ‘Excellence in Leadership’, as well as achievement awards with his work at major US corporations and the Federal Reserve System.

3:30 pm – 3:45 pm – Break

3:45 pm – 5:45 pm – Implications and Trajectories: A Community Conversation on Palestine Amidst the Arab Uprisings

with As`ad Abu-Khalil, Omar Barghouti, and members of the US Palestinian Community Network

Featuring guests and USPCN community organizers and coordinators, this will be an open forum for conversation on the implications of the Arab uprisings for the prospects of Palestinian liberation. We will discuss the expectations in changes in foreign policy of revolutionary Arab countries, the responsibilities of Palestinians in standing in solidarity with the uprisings, and the lessons learned from the strategic and tactical practices of the uprisings for the movement for Palestinian liberation and return.
