Commemorating the Detroit Arab Workers Strike for

Palestine

On November 28th in 1973, 2,500 Arab auto workers shut down production at Chrysler’s Dodge Main assembly plant near Detroit, Michigan, in a historic wildcat strike called for by the Arab Workers Caucus. The strike resulted in the first ever “Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS)” victory in U.S. history — successfully forcing the United Auto Workers (UAW) to divest from their State of Israel bonds (over $300,000), purchased with union dues money.

JEROME SCOTT – Founding member of League of Revolutionary Black Workers, member of League of Revolutionaries for a New America (LRNA), and board member of General Baker Institute; and

MIKE SIVIWE ELLIOT – former Detroit auto worker, retired leader of UAW Local 551, and member of Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (CAARPR).

TODAY, Wednesday, November 25th, 2020, at 12 PM CT | 1 PM ET, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, USPCN is joining Samidoun – Palestinian Political Prisoners Solidarity Network and others to continue demanding of the Israeli government to release Khitam Saafin, Palestinian feminist leader and the president of the Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees.

Khitam was seized from her home in Betunia and arrested on November 2nd, 2020, by the Israeli Occupation Forces and sentenced to administrative detention for 6 months without charge or trial.
