On International Women’s Day, March 8, the Palestinian Solidarity Group-Chicago and the U.S. Palestinian Community Network (USPCN)-Chicago encourage supporters of women’s rights to show support and solidarity with Palestinian women struggling for their freedom and for the national liberation of the Palestinian people.
We stand in support of and solidarity with Hana al-Shalabi, who went on hunger strike on February 16 to protest Israel detaining her without charge or trial. She has previously spent more than two years in detention without charge or trial — a practice known as “administrative detention.”
Israel currently holds approximately 300 Palestinians under administrative detention. (For more about Hana al-Shalabi and administrative detention, read here: ://addameer.org/etemplate.
