Thank you for joining USPCN in a social media call-to-action: Reject Trump’s Economic Conference in Bahrain!
On Tuesday, June 25th, 2019, the so-called “Deal of the Century” economic conference that aims to trade Palestinian rights for normalization with Israel will begin in Manama, Bahrain. For two days, representatives of at least six Arab countries will meet with U.S. and Israel officials, but without the presence of any Palestinians.
Since the announcement of the “deal,” the current U.S. administration has unilaterally moved against Palestinians, by recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel; by cutting funding for UNRWA, the main Palestinian refugee support institution on the international level; and by illegally proclaiming Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. These unjust dealings clearly represent a push to further the zionist project, and we expect these biased attacks on Palestinian liberation to continue at this summit.
Although Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner have attempted–through collaboration with corrupt Arab regimes and others invested in profiting from apartheid–to convince Palestinian political figures and businesspeople to attend the workshop, these individuals have instead heeded the boycott call from Palestinian resistance forces and civil society institutions. Lebanon rejected the U.S.’ invitation as well, and we at USPCN call on Jordan, Oman, Egypt, Morocco, Qatar, and Kuwait to cease all cooperation with this Saudi, Bahraini, Israeli, and U.S. attempt to liquidate the Palestinian movement for national liberation.
