On December 5th, the American Studies Association unanimously endorsed a resolution for the academic boycott of Israel. The successful resolution came on the heels of the ASA’s 2013 Annual Conference in Washington, DC where boycott was the most prominent topic of discussion and where scholars and student members of the Association expressed overwhelming support for it. The discussion at the conference and the vote itself marks a milestone in Palestine solidarity activism in the United States because of the formidable taboo it shatters. But the fight is not over yet.

In contravention of its normal practice, and in an attempt to deflect backlash, the National Council has put the resolution to a membership wide vote. The voting closes in 2 days onSunday December 15th. To help ensure this significant victory, please:

1) Ask your friends who are ASA members to vote

2) Ask your friends in academia to show support for the resolution by writing a letter or posting a supportive message to the ASA’s FB wall

3) Thank the ASA for their support by signing the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation’s letter here
