My name is ______ and I am calling [elected official] to follow up on an e-mail that I sent on March 25th to your office regarding Ata Khattab, Palestinian folkloric dancer and choreographer arrested by the Israeli military on February 2nd in his home in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah. Ata, a leading member of the world-renowned El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troupe, has been held for almost 3 months without charge and as a result of his detention contracted Covid-19 and was transferred to Ramleh Prison hospital. While he has since recovered, he is still being held by the Israeli military without charge – another example of continued attacks against cultural workers and students by the Israelis. I am calling to ask [elected official] express the concerns of their constituents and all people of conscience in the U.S. – by writing to the U.S. Secretary of State and requesting that he pressures Israel to: ensure Ata’s health, well-being, and rights as a political prisoner and a person living under military occupation and safely return Ata to his family immediately.
