The campaign calling for Palestinian democratic representation is currently underway. The demand for direct elections to the Palestinian National Council, where all Palestinians, wherever they are, have a voice, has electrified Palestinian organizers and young people around the world.

In addition to actions at PLO embassies, hunger strikes, sit-ins, vigils, and marches, community meetings have been held in London, Detroit, Rome and camps and towns in Lebanon and Palestine. There will soon be community gatherings in Jordan and Syria and elsewhere in Europe and Latin America.

US Palestinian Community Network, along with Palestinian organizations around the country, are coordinating a National Calendar of Palestinian Movement Assemblies and community meetings throughout the summer and fall. These meetings are the first crucial step in mobilizing for our national demands.

We will discuss international organizing towards national representation, and steps forward.
