Please join us for the launch of an exciting new website, a virtual exhibit celebrating art by incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people in Palestine and the U.S.

Participating political prisoners/artists are Hafez OmarLinda Evans, and Oscar Lopez Rivera. We will also hear a message from Kevin Cooper, currently on California’s death row at San Quentin prison, and from Anmar Rafeedie, a cultural worker and long time member of El-Funoun Palestinian Dance Troupe. And we are thrilled to musical artist Naima Shalhoub with us as well.
Organized by Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, Arab Resource and Organizing Center, California Coalition for Women Prisoners, Freedom Archives, Palestinian Youth Movement, and USPCN.

Ata Khattab has contracted COVID-19

Ata Khattab, lead choreographer and dabke instructor at El Funoun Palestinian Dabke Troupe, was dragged from his home in Palestine on February 2nd, and imprisoned at the notorious Al-Moscobiyeh interrogation center until last week, when USPCN received word that he had fallen ill.

International, Palestinian, and other health and human rights institutions have been demanding for over a year that Israel better protect Palestinian political prisoners from the coronavirus and other health problems in its prisons, but instead, as Amira Haas reported in Haaretz back in November, “Israel’s High Court rejected two petitions urging the adoption of available methods that could reduce coronavirus infection among Palestinian prisoners.”

In Al-Moscobiyeh, prisoners spend almost every minute of their days in isolation or solitary confinement. It is an interrogation center, where prisoners may also be subjected to torture, so the Israelis do not allow the Palestinians there to fraternize with others. This is why we believe that Ata was infected by one of the criminal Israeli interrogators.

Either way, Ata’s health is in jeopardy, and he has been moved to a hospital in Ramleh Prison, so it is even more imperative for all to take action NOW and sign our petition to #FreeAtaKhattab.

Also please be on the lookout for our legislative action alert early next week, in which we will be asking everyone in the U.S. to contact their elected officials in DC to intervene on Ata’s behalf.

Zionism as a Colonial Movement

USPCN has been providing political education to its members, students, and youth for years, so we are proud to announce a collaboration with PeoplesHub, “an online training organization connecting and supporting groups and individuals across geographies in order to build more powerful, thriving, and transformative movements.”

Register now for this two-part workshop on Zionism as a Colonial Movement, hosted by the USPCN Political Education Committee. Leading USPCN members Danya Zituni, Husam Marajda, Gloria Imseih Petrelli, and Sarah Risheq will be the presenters and facilitators.

All proceeds from this series go to support USPCN’s work.

SAVE THE DATE: the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian Political Prisoners is Saturday, April 17th

Commemorated since 1974, when Mahmoud Hijazi became the first Palestinian to be freed in a prisoner exchange with the Israeli occupation, April 17 is a day of protests, rallies, marches, educational events, and more to commemorate the struggle of Palestinians imprisoned in zionist jails, and to demand their freedom.

Stay tuned for an official announcement of our Prisoners’ Day event! #FreeKhitamSaafin #FreeAtaKhattab #FreeAllPalestinianPoliticalPrisoners

Until Liberation & Return,
